Akhilesh Yadav is the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh since March 2012. He is associated with the Samajwadi Party. At the age of 38 years, he became the youngest person to hold Chief MinisterÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s post in 2012.
In 2012, his role as a party member during the assembly elections was instrumental, which led the Samajwadi Party back to power to rule the state.He is known as one of the young faces in Indian politics. Akhilesh gives credit to Janeshwar Mishra who proposed him to join politics.
Akhilesh Yadav was born on 1 July 1973 in a Saifai village, located in the Etawah District of Uttar Pradesh, India. His father Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, is the founder and leader of this political Samajwadi party. He completed his schooling in Dholpur Military School of Rajasthan. Thereafter, from Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering under the Mysore University he completed his BachelorÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s and MasterÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s degree course in Civil Environmental Engineering. He also studied in the University of Sydney, from where he holds a degree in Environmental Engineering. By profession he is an engineer, agriculturist and socio-political worker.
On 24 November 1999, Akhilesh Yadav married Dimple Yadav and they have two daughters, Aditi and Tina, and a son, Arjun. He has a keen interest in sports like football and cricket.

Ã¢â‚¬Â¢ From 2004 to 2009, held membership in Committee on Urban Development, Committee on Estimates, Committee on Provision of Computers to various departments.
Ã¢â‚¬Â¢ In 2009 he became the member of the 15th Lok Sabha, re-elected for the third consecutive term.
Ã¢â‚¬Â¢ From 2009 to 2012 he held membership in Committee on Environment & Forests, Committee on Science & Technology, and the JPC on the 2G spectrum scam.
Ã¢â‚¬Â¢ On 10 March 2012, Akhilesh Yadav was appointed the leader of the Samajwadi Legislative Party in Uttar Pradesh.
Ã¢â‚¬Â¢ On 15 March 2012, he became the youngest Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

Ã¢â‚¬Â¢ His innovative style of campaigning through cycle rallies became quite popular among voters specially among the young generation.
Ã¢â‚¬Â¢ The Samajwadi Party won 224 out of 403 seats in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls in 2012, compared with 97 seats that the party held earlier.
He promised UP to be free from “goonda raj” or lawlessness. He promised laptops and tablets for students and brought in more young, educated professionals into his party Akhilesh Yadav has been actively involved in developing rural life and working for the welfare of the farmers and the poor. Akhilesh is a die-hard socialist. A keen environmentalist, Akhilesh was intend taking up water pollution projects when his father drafted him into politics.
